how did we end up in paxinos?
our factory
When we launched in 2015, we quickly realized that the only way to create customizable beauty products at scale was to find a fully operational production facility that fit our needs. The problem? That facility didn’t exist. Tasked with a seemingly impossible challenge, we decided to do something a little different for a brand-new start-up: we went ahead and built our own state-of-the-art factory from the ground up.
Our team created a truly first-of-its-kind facility in Catawissa, PA (our co-founder’s hometown), and later expanded with a second facility in Paxinos, PA where all of the filling equipment was designed, built, and coded in-house. To this day, there is still nothing comparable to it anywhere else in the world.

From reducing our overall packaging to investing in post-consumer recycled materials, we put sustainability at the core of everything we do.
As part of our mission to become more earth-friendly, we recently transitioned our boxes to 100% recyclable kraft packaging made with 30% post-consumer recycled materials, ensured our bottles and jars are all 100% recyclable, and are working hard to launch 100% post-consumer recycled hair, skin, and body care bottles by mid-2021.

At Function of Beauty, we really, really love our animals. So much so, in fact, that we often have a few four-legged friends (and one bird) roaming around our office at any given time, and yes, it’s every bit as wonderful as you’d imagine it is. When you’re animal-lovers like us though, it isn’t enough to just have a pet-friendly office, which is why we took the steps a long time ago to make sure all of our products are 100% vegan and cruelty-free.
As members of PETA’s Beauty Without Bunnies program, this means that we not only do not use any animal ingredients or animal by-products in our formulas, but we also do not test on animals at any stage of product development. The result is effective, high-quality beauty products that you can feel good about using.
