This is Ingredient Spotlight, a series where we dive into our vigorously-tested, superstar ingredients. Our first constituent: Argan oil.

What is Argan oil?

Argan oil – also known as liquid gold – is a plant oil derived from the kernels of Argan trees found in Morocco. It has been used as a beauty remedy for centuries, and can be found in a number of both high-end and affordable hair care products today.

What are the benefits of Argan oil?

Argan oil promotes overall hair and scalp health due to its high fatty acid and antioxidant content (including Vitamin E). It increases the hair’s moisture content, combats frizz, protects against sun damage, and improves hair elasticity leading to less breakage.

Where can I find Argan oil in Function of Beauty’s products?

You can find Argan oil in most of our custom hair products like:
Custom conditioner
Custom hair mask
Custom leave-in
Custom hair serum
Hair mist

By including Argan oil to the bases of these hair care products, you’re not only addressing your unique hair goals and needs with every pump, but also moisturizing your hair and protecting it against everyday damage!

Where does Function of Beauty source their Argan oil from?

Dr. Zahir Dossa, Function of Beauty’s Co-Founder and CEO, worked with Aziz El Madi, the Executive Director of Volunteer Morocco, “a non-profit geared towards bridging the gap between volunteerism and self-exploration while being immersed in Moroccan culture,” to create a business model that returns a greater share of Argan oil profits to female producers. As a result, Zahir and Aziz founded the Woman’s Cooperative — a 60-woman cooperative that produces organic Argan oil and sells directly to markets for beauty and household products.

If you haven’t given ‘Liquid Gold’ a try, Function of Beauty makes it easy for you to incorporate the extensive list of benefits of Argan oil into your daily routine.
