Ingredient of the Month: Rose Extract

The Ingredient of the Month series highlights one of our meticulously-selected ingredients. Get to know them all on our newly-launched Ingredients Page.

Welcome back to another installment of Ingredient of the Month. This time around we’re highlighting one of our most beloved ingredients — rose extract. Found in multiple best-selling Function of Beauty formulas, rose extract offers an array of notable benefits for the hair that you should know about. Here, everything you need to know about rose extract.

Main benefits: Delivers moisture to the hair, helps prevent split ends, balances excess oil + flakes
GOALS: fix split ends hair goal for custom hair serum + custom leave-in

Widely renowned for its highly therapeutic benefits, rose extract is a time-tested ingredient commonly used in a variety of personal care products — from serums and moisturizers, to shampoo and conditioner. Rich in vitamins A, C, D, and E, as well as essential fatty acids, rose extract is a powerful antioxidant with both soothing and hydrating properties. Moreover, it can help balance oil on the face or scalp. When it comes to the hair, specifically, rose extract aids in preventing split ends, delivering deep moisture to dry  frizzy strands, and keeping oil under control. Rose extract also has a stunning floral scent profile, which makes it an excellent ingredient to use in natural fragrances. Currently, you can find rose extract in our hair serum and leave-in formulas. It’s worth noting that we use a synthetic form of rose because, believe it or not, producing a single pound of rose essential oil can take roughly 10,000 pounds of rose petals. Pretty wild, right? That’s why we went the synthetic route, to help sustain our Earth’s natural resources.
